Defunding Victories: The Full List of 2025 Planned Parenthood Closures

Editor’s Note: SBA Pro-Life America now has an interactive map at lifesavinglaws.com where you can see all Planned Parenthood closures.

On the Fourth of July, President Donald Trump signed the One Big Beautiful Bill into law that included a provision to end forced taxpayer funding of the abortion industry through Medicaid. The measure is being called the biggest national victory for life since Dobbs. And according to Planned Parenthood themselves, the defunding measure could lead to the closure of up to 200 of their facilities nationwide.

Three days after the signing, Planned Parenthood’s well-paid lawyers launched an attack on democracy, insisting the abortion giant is entitled to over $500 million in annual taxpayer money. An activist Obama-appointed judge blocked the defunding measure, temporarily paralyzing the defunding portion of Congress’ law from taking effect for two months. As of September 11, three Biden-appointed judges removed the injunction and allowed the defunding provision to go into effect. Despite Planned Parenthood’s stall tactics, FORTY-SEVEN Planned Parenthoods have already closed or declared they’re shutting their doors.

The closures come as Planned Parenthood’s non-abortion services have decreased drastically. Cancer screenings, breast exams, and pap smears are down by more than 50%. Contraceptive services are down by almost 40%. Community health centers that provide these services, and offer far more comprehensive care to their patients, outnumber Planned Parenthoods 15:1 nationally and will provide stronger health services to women and their babies on Medicaid.

Here is the list of all the confirmed Planned Parenthoods that have closed or announced they will this year:

1. Gilroy, CA – Gilroy Health Center

Sources: CBS News, ineedana.com

Gilroy’s Planned Parenthood has officially closed, according to CBS News, along with four others in the pro-abortion state of California where Gov. Gavin Newsom has tried to draw abortion tourists from around the country. The business used to offered abortion drugs up to 11 weeks, one week after the approved timeframe by the FDA.

2. Madera, CA – Madera Health Center

Sources: CBS News, ABC 30, ineedana.com, SBA Pro-Life, San Jose Spotlight

This location has a sign on its door saying “Madera health center is closed,” making their closure official. Madera’s Planned Parenthood was part of the Mar Monte network, the largest Planned Parenthood affiliate in the nation with chains in California and Nevada and one of several affiliates Congress referred for potential criminal investigation for selling baby body parts. A total of 120 Mar Monte staff members have been laid off. This location was doing abortions with mifepristone and misoprostol up to 11 weeks, one week after the approved timeframe by the FDA.

3. San Mateo, CA – San Mateo Health Center

Sources: CBS News, The Almanac, ineedana.com

One of San Mateo’s Planned Parenthoods shut on July 24, with one more remaining in the county. This was another Mar Monte network facility. In the first week alone after President Trump signed the One Big Beautiful Bill, the Mar Monte Planned Parenthood chief of staff said their chains lost $1.7 million, while projecting a total loss of $8.4 million in July.

“We know that’s not a sustainable business model,” he said.

This location did surgical abortions up to 14 weeks and prescribed abortion drugs up to 11 weeks, one week after the approved timeframe by the FDA.

4. Santa Cruz, CA – Westside Health Center

Sources: CBS News, Live Action, Edible Monterey Bay, ineedana.com

This is another California Planned Parenthood that bit the dust in late July. The Westside location is in the same city as Greater Purpose Community Church, which opened up a brewery for “people of all religions to gather and drink craft beer while discussing how to raise money or volunteer their time for local issues.” The pastor of the church announced a portion of the profits would be donated to Planned Parenthood.

The church’s plans to open their brewery right below Planned Parenthood were thwarted by the pandemic, but it later opened in 2021 on East Cliff Drive. Despite the delay, the pastor said they’d make good on their promise to give funds to Planned Parenthood.

But Greater Purpose Community Church’s money wasn’t enough to keep Westside going after President Trump signed the defunding provision. This chain used to prescribe abortion drugs until 11 weeks (one week after the approved timeframe by the FDA) is no more.

5. South San Francisco, CA – South San Francisco Health Center

Sources: CBS News, The Almanac, Politico, ineedana.com

This is the fifth Planned Parenthood location in California that closed in July. Mar Monte Planned Parenthood’s chief of staff says his abortion business network is working on a business model that isn’t reliant on federal funding, looking toward state leaders and private donations to fill the gap. But even the radical governor of California, Gavin Newsom, turned his back on Planned Parenthood this year.

Newsom’s budget proposal cut $500 million from Planned Parenthood’s budget – something a Planned Parenthood spokesperson called “effectively defunding Planned Parenthood in the state of California,” comparing the move to Republicans’ One Big Beautiful Bill.

South San Francisco’s Planned Parenthood used to do abortions using drugs up to 11 weeks, one week after the approved timeframe by the FDA.

6. San Diego, CA – Mission Bay Mimi Brien Center

Sources: FOX 5 San Diego, Live Action

Last year, San Diego’s Mission Bay Mimi Brien Planned Parenthood announced it would shut in January of 2025.
